RARI (BE)

RARI is a solo electronic music project based in Brussels.

Since 2018, the artist has been releasing narrative EPs rooted in a singular musical style, balancing pop melodies with winding, rugged structures. This ambivalence is embraced by RARI, who seeks to transcend genre boundaries and create a unique universe where brightness, melancholy, hope, and rage intertwine. These stories are conveyed through narrative EPs, drawing inspiration from both traditional club styles and alternative musical structures.

RARI returns with Dissolve, a four-track EP set to be released on November 24 via the German label Unreel Records. Dissolve explores transcending the self, breaking free from mental prisons, and embracing new perspectives. True to the labyrinth of influences that defines RARI’s world, the EP moves between Electronica and Breaks, traversing euphoric Dance and progressive Techno.

The artwork, created by Brussels-based artist David Delruelle, unveils the cruel paradox driving RARI’s music: the ambiguity of our world and the passive-aggressive roles we play within it.

The opening track sets the tone for the EP. Ego Death is a direct uppercut to a society dominated by ego and its sedated lieutenants, evoking mental images of solitude infused with sharp EBM sounds, culminating in a crushing climax.

Reflecting RARI’s taste for genre-blending, IFT combines light Trance arpeggios with emotionally charged vocal elements, creating a unique fusion that supports the track’s narrative of a desperate attempt to escape.

Dissolve takes a decidedly club-oriented turn in its second half with Steady State, a Techno-House hybrid infused with RARI’s signature sound and love for ethereal melodies, building into a peak-time banger.

To close, Boy shifts into an Italo mode layered over post-PC Music-style Pop. The track’s unleashed groove, combined with its dissonant hook, takes listeners on a full-throttle ride from Avenue Moroder to Trancey-ville.
