Muddy Monk (FR)
“Always have fun experimenting. Always feel euphoria when I’m onto something. When I’m making a sound, a new synthesizer sound,” confesses Muddy Monk. Not surprising for a singer-songwriter discovered during Longue Ride (2018), his enduring debut album. There, the Fribourg native, behind his biker-in-gear appearance, was already breaking all stylistic codes – from contemplative synthwave to synthetic pop.
From one album to the next, Muddy Monk takes delight in taking his audience on a journey, never repeating himself and constantly reinventing his sound. He stepped on the accelerator just two years after Ultra Dramatic Kid (2022), a fascinating noisy experiment and vast rhythmic exploration. In the meantime, after two memorable concerts at the Salle Pleyel in autumn 2021 and at La Cigale in spring 2022 – prestigious venues he discovered live – the singer teamed up with his friend Jimmy Whoo for a four-hand maxi, To The Moon (2023), blending dreamy electronica and retrofuturistic pop.
Following Ultra Dramatic Kid, Muddy Monk reconnected with his melodic instincts and found the perfect tempo with his single Lili Pacino, which showcased his gift for contemplative ballads and catchy hooks.
