Alias (CA)
Multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, dilettante, polymath: Emmanuel Alias is all of that – and more. Under the name ALIAS, he leads a sprawling, shape-shifting rock project through which he experiments and creates with effervescent, DIY energy, crafting a kind of rock that draws inspiration at times from psych, dance-punk, and hip-hop, all propelled by twisted, hallucinatory themes.
He first emerged with the EP It’s Not Funny So Stop Smilin’, released on Simone Records in 2021, followed a year later by the concept album Jozef. He then toured across Quebec and France, with stops in New York and Toronto.
Alongside all that, he has also composed music for the HBO series Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects, as well as for several Cirque du Soleil productions, while working as a producer and musical director for Musique Nomade.
His second album, EMBRACE CHAOS – on which he trades guitars almost entirely for synthesizers – is set to be released in 2024 on Simone Records.
